POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director – Finance is responsible for leading and directing the organization’s financial strategy and operations to support profitability, sustainability, and long-term growth. The role provides leadership across accounting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, procurement, audit, tax compliance, governance, and internal controls while ensuring alignment with regional business objectives and organizational strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead annual budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and business strategy initiatives while ensuring budgetary compliance and performance alignment.

• Oversee financial accounting operations, management reporting, cashflow management, funding requirements, and capital expenditure planning.

• Manage corporate tax processes, insurance, investments, and treasury activities to optimize financial performance and sustainability.

• Lead and execute internal and external audits while strengthening financial governance, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.

• Review management accounts and business performance reports to support strategic decision-making and stakeholder reporting.

• Lead and develop the finance team while driving operational efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Oversee procurement activities, vendor management, and sourcing practices to ensure compliance, transparency, and cost efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Advanced Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
• ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional certification (required).
• Minimum ten (10) years’ progressive finance experience with at least five (5) years at a senior leadership level.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, audit, treasury, tax, financial governance, and strategic finance management.
• Experience within retail, distribution, or consumer finance environments would be an asset.
• Experience operating in regulated and/or unionized environments is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, audit requirements, and financial governance practices.
• Expertise in financial planning, reporting, analysis, budgeting, and cashflow management.
• Understanding of procurement processes, cost control measures, and operational efficiencies.
• Strong analytical, reporting, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to convert financial data into strategic business insights and recommendations.
