Job Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the Chief Financial Officer has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.

Key deliverables will include but not limited to:

  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the Executive Management Team (EMT) and Managing Director.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and asset optimization efforts.
  • Ensure financing arrangements align with company objectives.
  • Monitor product margins and resolve discrepancies.
  • Offer financial services to the EMT and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Serve as a director in subsidiaries or joint ventures as needed.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and maintain fixed asset controls.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of financial accounts and tax returns.
  • Coordinate with auditors and tax advisers to minimize tax burdens.
  • Supervise finance staff and ensure competence development.
  • Implement and enforce accounts payable and receivable controls.
  • Develop Treasury policies and monitor balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Establish effective credit management systems and procedures.
  • Facilitate assurance programs and ensure insurance compliance.
  • Manage insurance and real estate assets effectively.
  • Implement financial policies and standards.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Chair Contracts Board and monitor ERP and stock controls.
  • Lead Data Protection implementation and compliance efforts.

 

Qualification, Experience & Skills

  • Ideally, a graduate degree in Finance, , Accounting or Economics and/or Professional Accounting Certification (Chartered Accountant)
  • Wide Finance experience
  • 10+ years of audit experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent communications, influencing and networking skills
  • Ability to self-start
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Computer literate and sound knowledge of Microsoft suite
